Nick Mears is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020.

At Sacramento City College, he played baseball after graduating from Rocklin High School. In 2018, he signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates after going undrafted.

His first full season as a professional was spent with the Bradenton Marauders of the High-A Bradenton Marauders, but Mears made it to Double-A Altoona Curve.

At three levels in 2019, Mears tossed 46.2 innings with a 3.28 ERA in the bullpen, with 69 strikeouts and just 18 walks.

On August 8, 2020, Mears was promoted to the main leagues for the first time and made his major league debut that night against the Detroit Tigers, pitching one inning and conceding one run.

Mears appeared in four games with the Pirates in 2013, pitching five innings and allowing three runs.

As of the start of the 2021 season, Mears has been with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the American Association of Professional Baseball (MLB).

His major league debut didn’t come until his fourth stint with the Pirates, which began on July 20 after being recalled for the first time on May 26.
