The New York Yankees selected Solak in the second round of the 2016 MLB draft and signed him to a contract for $5 million.

In 2016, he debuted with the Staten Island Yankees as a professional baseball player. The entire season, Solak batted over.300 with the Tampa Yankees 2017.

For the three teams, the New York Yankees traded Solak to the Tampa Bay Rays in a deal that occurred in 2018.
