Paolo Espino, born Paolo Alessandro Espino Alonso was born on January 10, 1987, in Panama City in Panama. He plays professional baseball as a pitcher for the Washington Nationals baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB).

Paolo started playing professional baseball in 2007 after he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 10th round of the 2006 MLB draft. He played for the Single-A Lake County Captains in 2007 to begin his professional career. He spent the following season with both the Lake County and the advanced Single-A Kinston Indians.

He spent 2009 with Lake County, Kingston and the Double-A Akron Aeros and was assigned to play with the Akron and a little bit for the Triple-A Columbus Clippers in the 2010 minor league season. For the 2011 season, he was with Columbus and Akron.

He was elected free agency in 2013 and he signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs in November 2014. In April 2015, he signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals. He left the Nationals in 2016 and signed a minor league contract in November 2016 with the Milwaukee Brewers.

He made his MLB debut for the Brewers on May 19, 2017, when they played versus the Chicago Cubs.  Paolo returned to the Nationals in 2018 and he has been with them to date.
