Patrick Alan Corbin is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Washington Nationals. Previously, he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Corbin did not pitch for his high school baseball team until his junior year at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

He attended Mohawk Valley Community College and Chipola College during his college baseball career.



Corbin was drafted in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and was transferred to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010 as part of a package for Dan Haren.

Corbin debuted in Major League Baseball with the Diamondbacks in 2012 and was selected an All-Star the following year.

His pitching elbow’s ulnar collateral ligament was injured in 2014, and he missed the entire season. Corbin rejoined the Diamondbacks in 2015, but struggled and was demoted to the bullpen in 2016.

He began for the Diamondbacks on Opening Day in 2018, after returning to the rotation in 2017.

Prior to joining the Washington Nationals for the 2019 season, Corbin was chosen as an All-Star for the second time in his career.

Corbin is a Clay, New York native. His father, Dan Sr., worked as a truck driver for a sausage manufacturer, and his mother, Patty, is a nurse at an elderly rehabilitation facility.

 

Corbin’s father constructed a basketball court for his children in his backyard. Basketball was Corbin’s favorite sport when he was a kid.

He participated in Pop Warner football, Catholic Youth Organization basketball, and Little League baseball. Corbin was a New York Yankees fan of baseball.
