Paul Cady Blackburn (born December 4, 1993) is an Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball pitcher.

Danny Valencia was dealt to the Oakland Athletics on November 12, 2016, in exchange for Blackburn. A few days later, he was added to the Athletics’ 40-man roster.

The Triple-A Nashville Sounds were his first stop in 2017. Blackburn had a 5–6 record for the Sounds until June 26, 2017, with a 3.05 ERA and 56 strikeouts. He was chosen to the All-Star Team of the 2017 Pacific Coast League.



On July 1, 2017, the Oakland Athletics called up Blackburn to make his main league debut against the Atlanta Braves. He was 3-1 with a 3.22 ERA in eleven starts for Oakland the rest of the season.

During a start in Baltimore on August 22, Blackburn was hit in the hand by a Trey Mancini line drive. He was taken out of the game and did not pitch again that year.

He was on the disabled list to start the 2018 season. On June 7, he was activated and sent to Oakland, where he pitched six times for a 7.16 ERA. Blackburn suffered a forearm injury on August 28 and was placed on the disabled list.

Blackburn pitched in four games this season, posting a 10.64 ERA and eight strikeouts in 11.0 innings. In 2020, Blackburn made only one appearance, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing 7 earned runs.

Following the formal signing of Mitch Moreland on February 23, 2021, Blackburn was designated for assignment. On February 27, Blackburn was signed as a non-roster invitee to Spring Training.

Blackburn was drafted out of Triple-A Las Vegas on August 18.
