Payton Henry Parents: Meet Darrin Henry and Joy Henry

Payton Henry is an American professional baseball catcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.



The 2020 minor league season was canceled owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, and Henry was unable to participate. For the 2020 Rule 5 draft, he was not selected by Milwaukee and he was not added to the team’s 40-man roster.

He was sent to the Biloxi Shuckers of the Double-A South for the start of the 2021 season. He was promoted to the Triple-A East’s Nashville Sounds in mid-June.



Henry was traded to the Miami Marlins for John Curtiss on July 30, 2021. For Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimps of the Triple-A East, he was thereafter assigned. Henry had a slash line of.266/.351/.390 with six home runs and 27 RBIs in 71 games with Biloxi, Nashville, and Jacksonville.

Henry’s contract was selected by Miami on September 17 and he was upgraded to the active roster to make his MLB debut on September 18th, as scheduled.

In four at-bats against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he recorded one hit, a double, while starting at catcher. For the Marlins in 2021, Henry has four hits in 15 at-bats.
