Phidarian Mathis plays defensive tackle for the National Football League’s Washington Commanders. He stands 1.93 m tall and weighs 142 kg. Before moving to Neville High School, he attended Franklin Parish High School. He has recorded 41 tackles and seven sacks as a senior at Neville. He played NCAA football for the Alabama Crimson Tide while attending the University of Alabama.

Following the season, Mathis announced his intent to enter the 2022 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders selected Mathis with the 47th overall pick in the second round of the draft. On June 21, 2022, he agreed to a four-year rookie contract.
