Rafael Alejandro Marchan, simply called Rafael Marchan happens to be a professional baseball catcher from Venezuela. He plays for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team of Major League Baseball(MLB). Rafael is 1.75 m tall and weighs 77 kg.
He was born and raised on February 25, 1999, in San Cristobal in Venezuela. He had his amateur baseball career in Venezuela before the Philadelphia Phillies signed him as an international free agent in July 2015. He was given $200,000 as a signing bonus and started professional baseball in 2016 after he was assigned to play with the Dominican Summer League (DSL) Phillies.
In 2017, he spent the season with the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Phillies. The Phillies promoted him to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League (NYPL) during the 2018 minor league season. He earned another promotion to play for the Low-A Lakewood BlueClaws at the beginning of the 2019 season.
Rafael was promoted again by the Phillies and promoted to the Class A-Advanced Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League that same season. In 2020, the Phillies invited him to the Phillies’ 2020 spring training. He made his MLB debut that year in September for the Phillies.
