Raimel Tapia

In Major League Baseball, Raimel Antonio Tapia Linarez plays outfield for the Toronto Blue Jays. He was born in the Dominican Republic on February 4, 1994. Tapia joined the Colorado Rockies in 2016 and made his MLB debut.

In 2010, the Colorado Rockies acquired Tapia from a foreign free agent. He played in the rookie-level Pioneer League in 2013 for the Grand Junction Rockies, where he was named the league’s player of the month for July. He hit safely in 29 consecutive games for Grand Junction.

He was named the Topps Pioneer League Player of the Year for 2013 after the season, and prior to the 2014 baseball season, Baseball Prospectus ranked him as the 97th best prospect in all of baseball. After the 2015 season, the Rockies added him to their 40-man roster.

Tapia and Adrian Pinto were exchanged for Randal Grichuk by the Toronto Blue Jays on March 24, 2022.

At Fenway Park on July 22, 2022, against the Boston Red Sox, Tapia hit an inside-the-park Grand Slam in the top of the third inning. The Blue Jays eventually won 28-5, breaking the previous franchise mark for runs scored in a single game.
