Ranger was signed as an international free agent and was paid $25,000 as a signing bonus. He started his professional career that year for the Venezuelan Summer League (VSL) Phillies. He was only 16 years when he made his professional debut. The Phillies promoted him to the major leagues on July 24 2018 and he made his MLB debut on July 26 2018 for the team.
