In 2019, during his first season at Oklahoma, he played in the first 13 games of the season before failing a drug test for marijuana and being suspended for the 2019 Peach Bowl.

This led to his ineligibility to play in the bowl game. He concluded the year having carried the ball 64 times for 515 yards and scoring six touchdowns. Following the suspension, Stevenson made his return to the team six games into the 2020 season.

After rushing for 186 yards and scoring a touchdown on 18 carries, he was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2020 Cotton Bowl.
