With the Class A Short Season Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York–Penn League, Hoskins made his professional debut in 2014.

He had a .237 batting average and nine home runs in 70 games with the squad, but his performance was erratic.

He learned the left leg kick stance at the Florida Instructional League, where he was transferred by the Phillies’ department of player development in September of that year.

The Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League (SAL) assigned Hoskins to their Class A roster at the start of the 2015 season.

In May of that year, the Phillies awarded Hoskins their Minor League Player of the Month after he batted .342 with two home runs and 23 RBIs.

On June 23, Hoskins played in the SAL All-Star Game and placed second in the SAL Home Run Derby. He went 1-for-3 with a run scored in the game.

Two days later, he was promoted to the Class A-Advanced Clearwater Threshers of the Florida State League along with BlueClaw All-Star Malquin Canelo.

In seven games, Hoskins had nine hits, including four doubles, a triple, and two home runs. On August 24, he was named the Florida State League Player of the Week.

In 567 at-bats, Hoskins hit.319 with 17 home runs, 90 RBIs, and 86 runs batted in for the two teams in 2015.

There were some winter baseball leagues available to Hoskins, who wanted to maintain his momentum from the season after the regular season concluded.

For the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League, he slugged 8 home runs and batted 323, racking up a slugging percentage of 561.

Reading Fightin Phils of the Eastern League was Hoskins’ first stop after his spell in Australia.

Dylan Cozens and he had an immediate impact in Reading, hitting 36 home runs together by mid-June, the second-highest total in the major leagues behind only Mark Trumbo and Manny Machado for the Baltimore Orioles.
