He chose Central Florida over other schools that had offered him the chance to play college football. From 2016 to 2020, he was a member of the University of Central Florida’s UCF Knights football team. He redshirted his true freshman year and was a redshirt freshman defensive back in the rotation. He was named to the American Athletic Conference’s first team as a sophomore after recording 109 tackles and six interceptions (AAC). In his final season as a redshirt senior, he led the team in tackles (72), tackles for a loss (3.5), interceptions (3), pass breakups (6), forced fumbles (2), and fumble recoveries (2). For the third season in a row, he was selected to the first team All-AAC.

In his senior year, he was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award and a Bednarik Award semifinalist. As the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons picked Grant. He signed a rookie contract for $4 million with the Falcons in June 2021. The contract’s $8.3 million total includes a $3.4 million signing bonus.
