The National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons are well recognized for having Richie Grant as their starting safety. At 1.83 m tall and 88 kg, he is also quite tall. He was a wide receiver for the football squad while he was a student at Choctawhatchee High School. He accepted Central Florida’s offer to play college football over those from a number of other universities even though he was a two-star recruit out of high school according to 247Sports.

From 2016 through 2020, he competed in collegiate football for the University of Central Florida’s UCF Knights football team. In the rotation of the defensive backfield as a redshirt freshman, he redshirted his true freshman season. Prior to his redshirt sophomore season, he was given the starting nod.

As a sophomore, he had 109 tackles and six interceptions, earning a berth on the American Athletic Conference’s first team (AAC). As a redshirt senior, he was the team’s top performer in terms of tackles (72), tackles for a loss (3.5), interceptions (3), pass breakups (6), forced fumbles (2), and fumble recoveries (2). For the third consecutive year, he was named to the first team of the AAC.

In his senior year, he was a Jim Thorpe Award finalist and a Bednarik Award semifinalist. Grant was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons with the forty-first overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year rookie agreement with the Falcons in June 2021. The $8.3 million contract includes a signing bonus of $3.4 million.
