Robert Lee Jones, who was born on September 27, 1969, is a retired American football linebacker who played in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, the St. Louis Rams, the Miami Dolphins, and the Washington Redskins.
Jones played his whole career in the NFL. He attended East Carolina University, where he participated in collegiate football. Jones served as a co-captain for the 1991 squad that won the Peach Bowl and concluded the season with a record of 12–1,
earning them a national ranking of No. 9 overall. As a junior, he had 167 tackles, which placed him in second place all-time in the annals of the school,
as well as two interceptions, three tackles for loss, three passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The East Carolina University Athletics Hall of Fame recognized his accomplishments by inducting him that year (2004).
