Robert Quinn, an American football defensive end with the Chicago Bears of the National Football League, was born on May 18, 1990.
Quinn participated in the Fort Dorchester Patriots high school football team while attending Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, South Carolina.
His senior year was cut short by brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. Quinn fully recovered and was able to continue playing football. Before the operation, he had 54 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, and 21 quarterback hurries.
Quinn was considered one of the top prospects for the 2011 NFL Draft as early as April 2010. He didn’t play in any of his junior seasons, but in January 2011, he was still anticipated to be a top-10 pick. After the combine, his stock marginally declined, placing him at No. 11 in early March.
Quinn was chosen by the St. Louis Rams in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft (14th overall). Following J., Quinn was selected as the second defensive end in 2011. J. Watt (11th overall).
Quinn and James Hall, a seasoned veteran, battled it out for the starting defensive end position throughout training camp. Quinn will serve as the season’s starting main backup defensive end, according to head coach Steve Spagnuolo.
