Robert Stephenson is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Cincinnati Reds.

First-round draft pick Stephenson was taken by the Reds with the 27th overall pick in the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.

In 2007, the Reds selected catcher Devin Mesoraco first overall, and in 2004, they selected prep school pitcher Homer Bailey first overall. With Stephenson, they selected their first high school player in MLB’s first-round since Mesoraco.

The Reds reportedly paid Stephenson a $2 million signing bonus to sign with them. In 2012, Baseball America ranked Stephenson as one of the Reds’ top ten prospects, despite the fact that he had yet to make his professional debut. Stephenson spent the first half of the 2012 season in a preseason training camp.

During the Rookie-level Pioneer League, Stephenson made his professional debut on June 19, 2012, with the Billings Mustangs. He had eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
