During the 2016 MLB draft, the Houston Astros drafted him in the second round of the draft. He signed with them and was given $1,056,800 as a signing bonus. He made his professional debut that season with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League.

The following season, he was assigned to play for both the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League and the Buies Creek Astros of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League. The Astros made him play with the Buies Creek in 2018 but he was promoted during the season to the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League during the season.

Ronnie made his MLB debut for the Astros on April 14, 2021. The Cincinnati Reds chose him during the December 2021 Rule 5 draft and he has been playing with the Reds to date.
