The Houston Astros drafted Ronnie in 2016 during the 2nd round of the 2016 draft. He agreed to play for them and signed. He received $1,056,800 as a signing bonus. The Astros made him begin his professional career that year by assigning him to play with the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League.

Ronnie played for both the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League and the Buies Creek Astros of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League for the 2017 minor league season. He spent the 2019 season playing for the Corpus Christi and the Triple-A Round Rock Express.

The 2020 minor league season was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic thus Ronnie did not play in a game that season.
