Lewis was the first player chosen in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, and he was taken by the Minnesota Twins.

Lewis made his first appearance in a professional game on June 26 with the Gulf Coast League Twins, which competes at the Rookie-level of the Gulf Coast League.

The Twins made the announcement of Lewis’ signing on June 17. Lewis was given a promotion on August 12 and is now playing for the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Class A Midwest League.



After playing for both teams in a total of 54 games during the 2017 season, he finished with a combined batting average of .279, four home runs, 27 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases.

Cedar Rapids was the team that Lewis started the 2018 season with. He played 75 games for Cedar Rapids and had a batting average of .315 with nine home runs, 53 RBIs, fifty runs scored, and 22 stolen bases. He also had fifty stolen bases.

Lewis was offered a position with the Class A-Advanced Fort Myers Miracle baseball team on July 14, 2018, and accepted the offer. Lewis was ranked as the 10th best prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com on July 26, 2018.

After playing in 46 games during his time in Fort Myers, Lewis finished with a batting average of .255, five home runs, and 21 runs batted in.

Following the conclusion of the 2018 campaign, the Midwest League selected Lewis and his colleague Alex Kirilloff to serve as members of the league’s postseason all-star team. In addition to this, the Midwest League named Lewis its Most Valuable Player.
