An American football guard named Ryan William Bates competes in the National Football League for the Buffalo Bills. He is 137 kg and 1.93 m tall. Theresa Strocen-Bates and Norman Bates welcomed him into the world on February 14, 1997, in Warminster Township, Pennsylvania. He played football for the team at Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster Township, Pennsylvania.

At Pennsylvania State University, he participated in NCAA football for the Penn State Nittany Lions squad. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles in May 2019 as an undrafted free agent. On August 9, 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles traded Bates to the Buffalo Bills. He made his right guard debut in Week 16 of the 2021 season before converting to left guard for the remainder of the regular season and the postseason.
