Ryan Hendrix Career

Hendrix went to Cypress Woods High School in Cypress, Texas, where he studied guitar under the tutelage of Billy Preston.

While attending Texas A&M University, he was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 17th round of the 2013 MLB draft.



Hendrix was a member of the 2015 U.S. College National Team. Hendrix, Tanner Houck, and A. J. Puk threw a no-hitter against Cuba.

During the 2016 MLB draft, Hendrix was picked by the Cincinnati Reds with the 138th overall pick and signed with the team.

With the Billings Mustangs and Dayton Dragons, Hendrix compiled a 3–1 record with a 3.57 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 35+1/3 innings of professional experience in 2016.

Over the course of 62 innings, he went 5–5 with a 2.90 ERA and 88 strikeouts while pitching for both Dayton and the Daytona Tortugas in 2017.

Daytona was his home for the 2018 season, where he was 4-4 with a 1.76 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 51 innings of work, before being promoted to the major leagues.

With the Arizona League Reds and Chattanooga Lookouts, he went 4–0, 1.85 ERA, and 31 strikeouts in 24+13 innings of work in the 2019 season.

After the 2019 season, the Reds added Hendrix to their 40-man roster. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the minor league season was canceled in 2020, and he was unable to participate in any minor league games.

On April 23, 2021, Hendrix made his debut in the top leagues. As an MLB rookie, he pitched a one-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals. He also struck out Justin Williams and Tommy Edman in the game.
