Jeffers gained his High School education at Sanderson High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He hit.398 with two home runs in his final year of 2016. After being undrafted in the 2016 MLB draft, he enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and walked on to their baseball team.

After his junior year, the Minnesota Twins selected Jeffers in the second round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, with the 59th overall pick. In July, he was promoted to the Cedar Rapids Kernels after signing with the Twins and making his professional debut with the Elizabethton Twins.
