Ryan Patrick McMahon is a Major League Baseball infielder who currently plays for the Colorado Rockies.
McMahon played baseball and football for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. The Rockies selected him in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, with the 42nd overall pick.
McMahon signed with the Rockies and made his professional debut with the Grand Junction Rockies, foregoing his commitment to play collegiate baseball at the University of Southern California.
He spent the entire 2013 season there, batting .323/.402/.583 in 59 games with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs.
In 2014, he hit .282 with 18 home runs, 102 RBIs, and 46 doubles in 126 games for the Asheville Tourists, and in 2015, he hit .300/.372/.520 with 18 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 43 doubles in 132 games for the Modesto Nuts.
In 133 games with the Hartford Yard Goats in 2016, McMahon batted.242 with 12 home runs and 75 RBIs.
McMahon returned to Hartford in 2017. In order to increase his versatility, he began to play second and first base in addition to third base.
In June, he was promoted to the Albuquerque Isotopes. In July, he took part in the All-Star Futures Game.
On August 11, 2017, the Rockies promoted McMahon to the major leagues, primarily to play first base. On August 18, he was sent back down and then recalled in September.
He batted 355/.403/.583 with 20 home runs and 88 RBIs in 119 games between Hartford and Albuquerque, and he batted in 17 games for Colorado. 158
