Ryne Thomas Stanek is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Houston Astros.

He was born in the United States on July 26, 1991. (MLB). In 2017, he made his MLB debut. He played for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins earlier in his career.

During his stay at the University of Arkansas, where he also obtained his schooling, Stanek was a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team.



The Rays selected him first overall in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Stanek debuted in Major League Baseball in 2017 with the Rays, where he regularly pitched first before being traded to the Marlins in 2019.

Alex Stanek was taken by the Seattle Mariners in the Major League Baseball Draft in 2010, however, he did not sign with the organization.

During his tenure at the University of Arkansas, he was a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team, as well as the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

He had an 8–4 win-loss record, a 2.82 earned-run average, and 83 strikeouts in 92+2 innings pitched throughout his sophomore and junior years.

He played in the Houston College Classic in 2012 and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Stanek was named a preseason All-American by Baseball America, Perfect Game, Collegiate Baseball, and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

On March 25, 2013, Stanek was named SEC Pitcher of the Week. In 97+13 innings of work, he finished his junior year with a 10–2 record, a 1.39 ERA, 79 strikeouts, and 41 walks.
