Salvador Pérez, whose full name is Salvador Johan Pérez Diaz, is a Venezuelan-born Major League Baseball catcher for the Kansas City Royals. Salvador Pérez was born in Valencia, Venezuela, on May 10, 1990.

He has been a seven-time Major League Baseball All-Star, a five-time Gold Glove Award winner, and the recipient of the World Series Most Valuable Player award. He currently holds the record for most home runs in a single season.

Salvador joined a baseball school in Valencia when he was six years old, where he demonstrated the aptitude to throw and catch balls. He acquired a liking for playing the catcher role when he was eight years old.

At the age of 16, Salvador was signed by the Royals and began his professional career in the minor levels. His minor league career began in 2007 with a stint in the Arizona Complex League. On August 10, 2011, he was promoted to the major leagues and made his debut against the Tampa Bay Rays. Salvador has a total of 205 home runs during his career.
