Sam D. Hentges is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Cleveland Guardians. In 2021, he made his MLB debut.

Hentges was the St. Paul Pioneer Press baseball player of the year in 2014 as a senior at Mounds View High School in Arden Hills, Minnesota.

He has committed to the University of Arkansas to play college baseball. In the fourth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Cleveland Indians.

Hentges signed with the Indians instead of Arkansas and made his professional debut with the Arizona League Indians, pitching 13 innings with a 0.69 ERA.

Hentges split 2015 between the Arizona League Indians and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, with a 3–5 record and a 4.37 ERA in 13 games (11 starts) with both organizations.

 He began the 2016 season with the Lake County Captains, however his season was cut short due to Tommy John surgery. 

In 2017, he returned to the Arizona League Indians and Mahoning Valley, making 11 starts and going 0–4 with a 3.23 ERA. In 23 starts with the Lynchburg Hillcats in 2018, Hentges went 6–6 with a 3.27 ERA.

After the 2018 season, the Indians added Hentges to their 40-man roster. He started the season with the Akron RubberDucks.

He did not play in a minor league game in 2020 since the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
