Samuel Beauman Hilliard popularly known as ‘Sam Hillard‘ is an American professional baseball outfielder with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball. He was born on February 21, 1994.
Among the three sons, Sam Hilliard is the youngest. Tamara Hext, Hillard’s mother, was Miss Texas in 1984 and finished as the 4th runner-up in the Miss America Pageant in the same year. Jim Hilliard, his father, was a football player for the Texas Longhorns and an orthopedic surgeon for 35 years.
In Mansfield, Texas, Hilliard attended Mansfield High School. Prior to going to Crowder College, he began playing baseball for Navarro College.
He was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2014 out of Crowder, but he chose to enroll at Wichita State University instead of signing a contract.
In college, Hilliard played both outfield and pitcher. He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB draft after only one season at Wichita State and signed.
After making his major league debut with the Grand Junction Rockies, Hilliard played for the Asheville Tourists in 2016, the Lancaster JetHawks in 2017, and the Hartford Yard Goats in 2018.
