Sam Selman is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels.

In exchange for Tony Watson, Selman, Ivan Armstrong, and José Marte were transferred to the Los Angeles Angels on July 30, 2021. Selman had a 6.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 17.0 innings thrown in 18 appearances for the Angels.

Selman was designated for assignment by the Angels on December 1. The 2021-22 Major League Baseball lockout put Selman in DFA limbo for more than three months after the deadline of March 10, 2022.



A day later, on March 13th, the Oakland Athletics claimed Selman off waivers. The Athletics designated Selman for assignment on April 7th. Selman was added to the Athletics squad on April 18, 2022, as a COVID-related replacement.

Before being sent back to Triple-A on April 23, Selman had one appearance against the Texas Rangers and threw two and third scoreless innings with five strikeouts. On May 29, the Oakland Athletics recalled Selman from the minors.
