Saquon Barkley’s Parents: Meet Alibay Barkley and Tonya Johnson

American football running back Saquon Barkley currently plays for the New York Giants in the NFL. After three years of collegiate football at Penn State, he finished with 5,557 yards from scrimmage.



Barkley was the Giants’ second-round pick in this year’s NFL draft. In 2018, he rushed for over 1,300 yards and broke multiple league and franchise records in the process.

He was honoured with the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award and a spot in the league’s all-star game. Due to his upbringing in the Bronx,



Barkley has raised a New York Jets supporter due to his upbringing in the Bronx. His father Alibay was a boxer, and his brother was picked up by the Los Angeles Angels in a baseball draft.

When Barkley and his family were looking for a more secure community in 2001, they settled in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Barkley had a 40-yard sprint time of 4.4 seconds and bench-pressed 225 pounds 29 times,

which was tied for the most of any running back at the combine. By the draft day of the 2018 NFL season, he was widely considered a top-ten choice.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Cleveland Browns were “seriously contemplating” making Barkley their first-round pick.
