Sean McManus Guenther, Guenther is one of the professional baseball players currently in the major leagues. He plays as a pitcher for the Miami Marlins baseball team. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia in the USA where he was born.
He played baseball for his high school team at Marist School located in Brookhaven, Georgia. After high school, he played college baseball for the Fighting Irish baseball team of the University of Notre Dame.
There, he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American during his freshman year and was also named on the ACC All-Freshman team. Before he graduated from the University, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The Miami Marlins drafted him in the 7th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut that season with the Gulf Coast League Marlins of the Gulf Coast League. He was later promoted to play with the Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League.
During the 2021 minor league season, he played with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp of Triple-A East. The Marlins promoted him to the major leagues in 2021 and he made his MLB on August 4, 2021.
