Sean Guenther is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). Guenther is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and he received his education from Marist School in Brookhaven, also located in Georgia.



In 2014, he received his diploma from high school. Guenther has made a verbal commitment to join the University of Notre Dame’s baseball program as a member of the Fighting Irish baseball team.

Guenther was honored as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and as a member of the ACC All-Freshman team during his first year at Notre Dame.



He also led the Irish in saves with five, which was a career-high for a freshman. During his first professional season in 2015, Guenther has a record of 1–3 with a 2.72 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.295.

Guenther finished his sophomore year with a record of 3–5, an earned run average of 4.62, and a walk-to-hit ratio of 1.369. He had 11 starts and 15 total appearances.

Following the conclusion of the 2016 campaign, Guenther participated in the summer collegiate baseball tournaments for the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Guenther finished his junior season with a record of 2–6, a 2.64 earned run average, a 1.328 WHIP, and seven saves.

Guenther was selected by the Miami Marlins in the seventh round (209th Overall) of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft after completing his junior year of college baseball.
