Seth William Brown (born July 13, 1992) is a Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder and first baseman for the Oakland Athletics. In 2019, he made his Major League Baseball debut.
Brown was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 19th round of the 2015 MLB Draft, with the 578th overall pick.
He was assigned to the Rookie League Arizona League Athletics after signing with the franchise, before being promoted to the Vermont Lake Monsters of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League after six games.
He hit.289 with 19 doubles, three home runs, 35 RBIs, and 32 runs scored, earning him a spot in the New York–Penn League All-Star Game and the Lake Monsters’ team MVP award.
He skipped Class A and began the 2016 season with the Stockton Ports of Class A-Advanced, hitting.241 with eight home runs and 53 RBIs. The next season, he was moved to the Ports and had a significant boost in his offensive productivity.
Brown was selected a California League All-Star and Minor League Baseball’s Player of the Month for August after hitting.270 and leading the California League with 30 home runs and 109 RBIs.
Brown batted.283 with 14 home runs and 90 RBIs for the AA Midland RockHounds in 2018.
At the time of his promotion to the Major Leagues, he was batting.297 with 37 home runs for the AAA Las Vegas Aviators, second in the Pacific Coast League.
Brown’s contract was chosen by the Athletics on August 26, 2019. In his first career at-bat, he earned his first career hit, a single off Jorge López, and went 2-for-6 with an RBI and two runs scored in the A’s 19-4 triumph.
In his first Major League season, he hit 293 with eight doubles, two triples, 13 RBIs, and 11 runs scored in 26 games (75 at-bats).
Brown featured in only seven games for the team in 2020, going hitless in five plate appearances. In 111 games in 2021, he hit.214/.274/.480 with 20 home runs and 48 RBIs.
