Shane Buechele plays quarterback for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. He is 95 kg and 1.83 m tall. He attended Mirabeau B. Lamar High School, where he played high school football. He ran for 1,805 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 6,379 yards during his high school career. He was one of the top quarterback recruits in his class and received an invitation to the Elite 11 quarterback competition.
There, he impressed the coaches with his accuracy and ultimately took second place. From 2016 to 2018, he participated in collegiate football for the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Longhorns squad. He played in just two games in 2018.
Once he had earned his degree from Texas, he joined the SMU Mustangs’ collegiate football team. Then, he changed schools and enrolled at Southern Methodist University. He received the start in the Mustangs’ first-round matchup with Arkansas State. In the win of 37-30, he completed 30 of his 49 throws for 360 yards and one interception.
Buechele, who was passed over in the 2021 NFL Draft, signed on with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May of that year. He received a termination on August 31, 2021. He was added to their practice squad the next day, and on November 16, 2021, he was promoted from that squad.
