He was a student at Piedmont Hills High School, where he also played football. He enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley after completing his education at Piedmont Hills, where he played collegiate football from 2011 to 2015 for the California Golden Bears team.
In 2012, he played in four games despite redshirting as a true freshman. His 101 receptions for 1,260 yards and 7 touchdowns were the culmination of his career.
