Sterling Shepard Parents: Meet Derrick Shepard and Cheri Shepard

Derrick Shepard and Cheri Shepard are the parents of football wide receiver, Sterling Shepard. Sterling’s parents gave birth to children in addition to Sterling.

His late father, Derrick who died on August 4, 1999, was an American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys.

After the 1987 NFL draft, the Washington Redskins took a chance on him and signed him as an undrafted free agent. This was the beginning of his professional career. On August 17th, he was released from the team.

After the players went on strike during the third week of the season, the games scheduled for that week were postponed (bringing the total number of games for the season down to 15), and the NFL made the decision that the games would be played using substitute players.
