Means played defensive end for four seasons, during which time he recorded 186 total stops, 30.5 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and five blocked kicks.

He also had three fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. He received his degree with a specialization in human development and family studies.
