Tanner Scott Rainey is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball.



He was born on December 25, 1992, in the United States (MLB). During the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the draft.

In 2018, he made his major league baseball debut with the Reds. St. Paul’s School, located in Covington, Louisiana, was Rainey’s alma mater.



Both as a pitcher and a first baseman, he participated in collegiate baseball while attending Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of West Alabama.

In the second round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft, the Cincinnati Reds selected him as a pitcher to join their organization.

In his first year of professional baseball with the Billings Mustangs in 2015, Curtis Rainey was 2-2 with a 4.27 earned-run average in 15 starts.

In 2016, he pitched for the Dayton Dragons and had a record of 5-10 with a 5.57 earned-run average in a total of 20 games started.

In 2017, he pitched for the Daytona Tortugas and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. In his first game in the major leagues, which took place on April 10, 2018, against the Philadelphia Phillies, he pitched one inning and allowed a grand slam to be hit.
