Castro-Fields was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft; however, he was cut before the season began and was picked up by Washington off of waivers.

Castro-Fields participated in 12 games as a freshman and recorded 10 total tackles, three passes intercepted, and three passes were broken up for the year. As a junior, Castro-Fields led the team with two interceptions and eight passes disallowed while recording 52 tackles.
