American football wide receiver Tavon Wesley Austin is currently under contract with the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.
While playing college football at West Virginia, he was named to the All-American team on two separate occasions. In the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams selected him with their first overall pick.
The city of Baltimore in Maryland is where Austin was born. He received his secondary education at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where he participated in the sports of football, basketball, and track & field.
He was a three-time state champion at running back for the football team at Dunbar High School, which won three straight titles in Class 1A. In his senior season, he rushed for 2,660 yards on 218 carries and scored 34 touchdowns. In addition, he returned 12 punts for 446 yards and scored two touchdowns.
He was selected to the Consensus first-team All-state and was named the Maryland Consensus Offensive Player of the Year on two separate occasions.
He established new standards in the state in terms of career points scored (790), touchdowns scored (123), total offensive yards gained (9,258), and running yards gained (7,962). Austin’s primary events in track and field were the 100-meter dash and the long jump.
At the 2009 1A North Region Meet, he ran the 100 meters in a time of 11.47 seconds, which was a personal best for him. In addition to that, he participated in the 400-meter relay for Dunbar.
