Tavon Wesley Austin is a wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He was twice named an All-American while playing NCAA football at West Virginia. He was created on March 15, 1991, in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States.
In Baltimore, Maryland, at Dunbar High School, he participated in football, basketball, and track. After graduating from high school, he was given a football scholarship by West Virginia University, and from 2009 to 2012, he played for the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Austin was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In June 2013, Austin agreed to a four-year, $12.751 million rookie contract. The contract also included a $7.653 million signing bonus. In April 2018, Austin was exchanged for a 2018 sixth-round draft pick and sent to the Dallas Cowboys. Austin was purchased by the San Francisco 49ers in August 2020. He was placed on injured reserve in September 2020. He was released off the injured reserve on October 27 after receiving a settlement for his injuries.
On December 1, 2020, Austin signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers. Austin committed to the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 6, 2021. He was placed on injured reserve on September 2, 2021. He started becoming active on September 30. Austin signed a contract with the Buffalo Bills on June 2, 2022.
