Tanya and Andy Saucedo gave birth to Saucedo on June 18, 1993, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His familial roots may be traced back to Spain and Guatemala, and he is of Mexican ethnicity.

Saucedo grew up in Hawaii, Japan, Seattle, and Texas because his father was a marine. Saucedo was first exposed to baseball while residing in Japan.

Saucedo had an interest in pitching as a youth, pitching against bigger kids. To allow him to play against kids as young as 12, his father had to sign a release.

Saucedo was a member of the Little League All Stars in middle school and went on to play varsity baseball at Tahoma High School in Maple Valley, Washington.

He was cut from the squad in Grade 10 and went on to have a junior season in which he did not win a single game. Saucedo blamed his poor performance on a lack of confidence after his junior year.

In his senior season, he went from 0–4 to 7–1 while leading the Bears to the North Division title of the South Puget Sound League.

Saucedo was named to the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 4A All-State second team in 2011 and the South Puget Sound League’s All-North Division first team in 2011.
