Thomas Hennessy is a professional football player. He plays long snapper for the New York Jets of the National Football League. While a student at Don Bosco Preparatory High School in high school, he earned three football letters. Over the course of three years, he helped the club to a 35-0 record. The school also won three state championships and was named the national champion by USA Today in 2009 and 2011.

For the class of 2012, Kohl’s graded him as the ninth-best long snapper in the country. He enrolled at Duke University after finishing high school, where from 2013 to 2016 he played NCAA football for the Duke Blue Devils. In 2012 as a freshman, he redshirted. Beginning in 2013, he started every game until 2016. He played in 52 games while in college, starting each one, and accumulating 545 total snaps.

He made three solo tackles in addition to one tackle assist. At the university, he studied biology for his major and psychology for his minor. After graduating from the University, he was not chosen in the NFL Draft; as a result, on May 4, 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He was traded to the New York Jets in August 2017. On October 5, 2019, Hennessy and the Jets reached an agreement on a four-year, $4.4 million contract extension.
