Thomas Hennessy plays football professionally and serves as the long snapper for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He received three football letters while attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School. He contributed to the team’s 35-0 record throughout a three-year period.

The school won three state championships and was recognized as the national winner in 2009 and 2011 by USA Today. He was rated as the ninth-best long snapper in the nation for the class of 2012. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Duke University, where from 2013 to 2016 he competed in NCAA football for the Duke Blue Devils.

In every game from 2013 through 2016, he was the starting quarterback. He played in 52 games, starting every single one of them, for a total of 545 snaps throughout his time in college. In addition to one tackle assist, he made three solo tackles. He majored in biology and minored in psychology at the university.

He was not chosen in the NFL Draft after receiving his degree from the university; as a result, on May 4, 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. In August 2017, he was dealt to the New York Jets. Hennessy and the Jets agreed to a four-year, $4.4 million contract extension on October 5, 2019.
