Professional football player Thomas Hennessy is the long snapper for the National Football League’s New York Jets. He received three football letters while attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School in high school. He assisted the team in going 35-0 over the course of three years.

Additionally, the school won three state championships and was recognized as the national winner in 2009 and 2011 by USA Today. He was rated as the ninth-best long snapper in the nation for the class of 2012. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Duke University, where from 2013 to 2016 he competed in NCAA football for the Duke Blue Devils.

He redshirted in 2012. He began each game from 2013 to 2016, starting all of them. He participated in 52 games throughout his time in college, starting each one, for a total of 545 snaps. In addition to one tackle assist, he made three solo tackles. He majored in biology and minored in psychology at the university.

He was not picked in the NFL Draft after receiving his degree from the university, thus on May 4, 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. In August 2017, he was dealt to the New York Jets. Hennessy and the Jets agreed to a four-year, $4.4 million contract extension on October 5, 2019.
