P Ronald Roman was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Tim Locastro on January 16th, 2019.

With the D-Backs, he finally got some significant playing time, appearing in 91 games, hitting.250 with one home run and 17 RBIs, and seeing time in all three outfield positions almost equally.

The most interesting aspect of his season was that he went 17-for-17 in stolen base attempts, which was a reflection of his speed.

He was clocked at 30.8 mph by Statcast, the fastest of any player, with Trea Turner in second place, who is more widely known.

When he was hit by pitches, he had a .357 OBP despite reaching base 22 times, while an average player would have been struck out three times in the same number of plate appearances.

A new record was set on April 11, 2021, when he swiped the 28th base of his career without being caught, breaking the previous mark of 27.

The Diamondbacks had a terrible start to the season, and he batted just.188 in 55 games during that span. He was caught five times out of eight times stealing.

His major league job appeared to be in jeopardy when he was traded to the New York Yankees on July 1st in exchange for Keegan Curtis, the Yankees wanting to add speed and defense to an otherwise sluggish team.
