Thomas James Murphy Jr. is an American professional baseball catcher who is currently employed by the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball.
He was born on April 3, 1991. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Colorado Rockies. Before Murphy started his career in the major leagues, he was a collegiate baseball player for the University of Buffalo.
During the NECBL All-Star Game, Murphy crushed a home run over the Green Monster at Fenway Park, which was pitched by Kevin Gausman.
The game was played against the United States Collegiate National Team. After finishing 2011 with the highest batting average in the league (.384), he was honoured with the title of Baseball Player of the Year by the Mid-American Conference.
During that particular summer, he was a member of the Holyoke Blue Sox baseball team, who competed in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
