American pitcher Thomas Andrew Nance plays for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). With the Chicago Cubs, he made his MLB debut in 2021.

In Long Beach, California, Nance attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He had a stress fracture in his lower back in high school.

At Long Beach State, Cypress College, and Santa Clara, he played baseball in college. After finishing his final year of college, he underwent Tommy John surgery.

Nance joined the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League after graduating from Santa Clara University in 2015 and being undrafted.

Nance pitched in 29 games, recording a 4.74 ERA, a 1-1 record, 38 innings pitched, 40 strikeouts, and a 1.421 WHIP.

The Chicago Cubs organization bought Nance’s contract on January 18, 2016.

The Low-A Eugene Emeralds, the Single-A South Bend Cubs, the High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and the Triple-A Iowa Cubs were his four Cubs affiliates for the 2016 campaign.

In 22 games between the four teams, he recorded a 4-1 record and a 2.58 ERA. After being told that he had a nerve injury in his shoulder, he was unable to play in any games in 2017.

He pitched for the Tennessee Smokies in Double-A in 2018 and had a 3.48 ERA in 15 outings. He pitched in 48.2 innings for both Tennessee and Myrtle Beach in 2019, posting a 2-5 record and 4.07 ERA while striking out 56 batters.
