Thomas Townsend, a punter in the National Football League, currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. Townsend was born on November 12th, 1996.



He graduated from William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Florida. When he was first starting out in college football, he was with Tennessee.

Pro Football Writers of America have selected Devon Townsend to their 2020 All-Rookie Team. On November 1st, while the New York Jets were fooled by a fake punt, he completed his first professional throw.


He finished the 2020 season having punted 52 times for a net of 2,339 yards (44.98 yards per punt). In Week 9’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Townsend punted six times for an average of 56.8 yards.

On a fake punt, he completed the second pass of his professional career and gained 16 yards. The American Football Conference (AFC) has recognized Townsend as their Special Teams Player of the Month for November. After being placed on Reserve/COVID-19 on the 24th, he was activated on the 29th.
