Trace McSorley, also known as Richard Thomas McSorley III, is a quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He stands 1.83 meters tall and weighs 92 kilograms. He played high school football while enrolled at Briar Woods High School. He led the team to a 13-2 record and a state championship in his rookie season.

He also guided them to a 15-0 record and its third straight state championship two seasons later, during his junior year. The Virginia Coaches Association and Virginia Preps both named him to the First Team All-State. He received honors as a junior including First Team All-Dulles District, Offensive Player of the Year, and Second Team All-Region Quarterback.

He attended Pennsylvania State University following high school, where from 2014 to 2018 he played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions. As a true freshman, he redshirted. He participated in a total of six games as a redshirt freshman. With the 197th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens selected McSorley in the sixth round.

He was released by the Ravens in August 2021 and later re-signed to the practice squad the following day. He was signed by the Arizona Cardinals in November 2021. He was released by the Cardinals on August 30, 2022, and the next day he was added to the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster on September 7, 2022.
